The British Association of Aesthetic Surgeons

Objectives: The British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons is a charity which aims to advance safety, education and ethical aesthetic practice whilst supporting innovation and excellence in the field.

BAAPS Support

Objectives: BAAPS Support is able to represent areas of interest to BAAPS Members that fall outside the remit of BAAPS, the charity, such as business support and advice

Objectives: Creating industry relationships allows BAAPS to generate funds whilst delivering industry marketing objectives.

BAAPS Academy

Objectives: To play a leadership role in advancing the science and practice of education across surgical and non-surgical aesthetics by providing online courses and master classes in the field.

Certification Scheme

Objectives: The Certification Scheme aims to provide accreditation for key competencies, demonstrating expertise to patients and ultimately helping to make cosmetic surgery safer.

Member Audit

Lead: Mr Rajiv Grover

Objectives: The BAAPS Member audit is a key tool for the member annual appraisal process and revalidation as well as providing unique data which offers the only valid source of information about aesthetic surgery activity in the UK.

PR Committee

Objectives: To outline strategy and manage press and public messaging.

Professional Standards

Lead: Mike Tyler

Objectives: A panel of plastic surgeons to review complaints and complex practice issues brought to the Association.

Governance

Lead: Mark Ho-Asjoe

Objectives: To keep the governance of the association updated and relevant.

BAAPS Local

Objectives: Assist plastic surgeons develop local M & M meetings to foster governance and audit of aesthetic practices, professional discussion, governance matters and clinical support among peers. These meetings will count towards certification credits.

Annual Conference

Lead: Nora Nugent

Objectives: BAAPS Annual International Conference, attended by 400 plastic surgeons from around the world.

Psychology

Objective: Courses run by psychologists to support plastic surgeons with psychological patient assessment tools to which count towards certification.

BASE Facilitation Programme

Lead: Marc Pacifico & Ash Mosahebi

Objectives: BAAPS recognised that courses and certifications exist for aesthetic procedures, many of which have no involvement from BAAPS members, and many of which almost preclude BAAPS members from qualifying as approved trainers within their definitions.

BAAPS has created a prestigious and recognized certification for those who are experienced lecturers and higher level trainers.

Masterclass

Leads: Dan Saleh & Manaf Khatib

Objectives: To deliver advanced educational sessions in aesthetic plastic surgery for trainees and consultants.

Head to Toe

Lead: Manaf Khatib & Alastair Platt

Objectives: A series of aesthetic webinar based training in all areas of aesthetic plastic surgery.

Video Platform

Objectives: To bring a fully virtual learning platform to the membership.

Trainee Education

Lead: Alastair Platt

Objectives: The Regional Aesthetic Training Days and are run for pre-and post-CCT trainee, the annual series aim to support the curriculum and deliver core aesthetic training.

Clinical Guidelines

Lead: Marc Pacifico

Objectives: BAAPS aim to keep clinical guidance documents updated and circulated to all members.

Liposuction Guidelines

Lead: Marc Pacifico

Objectives: Due to recent concerns over the safety of liposuction, BAAPS joined with BAPRAS to create the first UK guidelines on liposuction for aesthetic surgery and lipoedema.

Abdominoplasty

Leads: Antony MacQuillan

Objectives: To create up to date abdomnioplasty guidance.

Aesthetic Practice

Leads: Paul Harris and Hyda Rhida

Objectives: To create up to do date guidance on aesthetic practice.

Fellowships

Objectives: BAAPS supports trainees through several Fellowships throughout the year.

BAAPS Travel Fellowships

Objectives: BAAPS offers 3 x £1,000 Travel Fellowships to Trainee BAAPS Members, these are awarded at the Annual Meeting.

BAAPS/BAPRAS Aesthetic Fellowship

Objectives: BAAPS and BAPRAS offer a joint fellowships for up to 4 Trainees per year. These are awarded in February/March.

BAAPS Member Aesthetic Fellowships

Leads: Marc Pacifico & Dan Marsh

Objectives: For BAAPS Members to apply to host and fund a fellow for 3 month fellowships in their private practices.
