Over the last 5 years BAAPS council members have been representing the UK in formulating a European wide set of standards for Cosmetic surgery. After numerous international meetings and following extensive public consultations a final standard has been agreed. These aim to protect the patient and to promote safe practice. Whilst not embodied in a legislative framework such standards are seen as reflecting best practice and are usually seen as a precursor to a legislative framework in all involved member states. The full standards are available in the BAAPS office, though the BAAPS code of conduct accurately mirrors all of the salient features.
