About me:

Professor Lees is Consultant Plastic Surgeon with NHS practice based at Manchester Foundation Hospitals Trust and with rooms at The Beeches Consulting Centre at Alexandra Hospital, Cheadle, Cheshire. After graduation from Oxford and Cambridge she has been based since 1997 in Manchester. She was trained in centres of excellence in the UK and USA before she took up appointment as Consultant Plastic Surgeon in the regional centre for plastic surgery at Wythenshawe Hospital, Manchester. Professor Lees has credentialed in Cosmetic Surgery (February 2018) and has practised cosmetic surgery for the entirety of her career. For many years she served as a Council member for the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS), also representing BAAPS on the charitable Healing Foundation promoting research into relevant areas of aesthetic research. She also works closely with Breast Surgery colleagues providing a multidisciplinary service for developmental breast disorders including asymmetry and tubular breasts based at the Nightingale Centre at Wythenshawe Hospital. Professor Lees has previously served as Chair of the Specialist Advisory Committee (SAC) in Plastic Surgery responsible for plastic surgery training in the UK and Republic of Ireland. She is a past Examiner for FRCS (Plast) and Council member of the British Association of Plastic Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgeons (BAPRAS). Currently an elected member of Council Royal College of Surgeons of England with responsibility for the International portfolio of the College. Professor Lees holds Clinical Academic Chair in Plastic Surgery with the University of Manchester. She maintains an active research and teaching programme having published over 65 articles in the medical literature including an invited chapter in Gray’s Anatomy. She is past Editor of the European Journal of Hand Surgery. She has been awarded Hunterian Professor of the Royal College of Surgeons of England for 2010/11. Recent research includes a project looking at adipogenic stem cells in fat graft (BAAPS/Healing Foundation grant).
