BAAPS Statement on ‘Degrading’ Crowdfunding Website

According to consultant plastic surgeon and former BAAPS President Rajiv Grover:

“The British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons' views of this appalling website have always been entirely clear, as the Association has publicly denounced this website as 'degrading', 'outrageous' and 'inappropriate' as far back as 2007 (https://www.baaps.org.uk/about/news/1308/outrage_over_degrading_breast_augmentation_website)

Surgeons cannot vouch for where patients obtain the funds to proceed with surgery, however, any member who knowingly performed surgeries for MyFreeImplants.com would be breaking the Association's code of conduct, and would face expulsion.

BAAPS members take very seriously the duty of care to warn patients that the decision to undergo a breast augmentation is not to be made lightly, that there are risks as well as benefits, and that implants do not last 'a lifetime,' but have to be replaced periodically, requiring future surgeries - something that is not explained to women who enter in to these wholly inappropriate and exploitative agreements.”
