Douglas McGeorge assumes leadership role at the BAAPS

THE BRITISH ASSOCIATION OF AESTHETIC PLASTIC SURGEONS APPOINTS NEW PRESIDENT

Bath - 22 September 2006 - The British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (www.baaps.org.uk), the not-for-profit organisation established for the advancement of education and practice of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery for public benefit, today announced the appointment of Mr. Douglas McGeorge to the role of President.

According to Adam Searle, Consultant Plastic Surgeon and former President:

"We are thrilled to announce Douglas` appointment as President of our organisation. His commitment to patient education and safety makes him an ideal choice to oversee operations, and continue the promotion the BAAPS as an ideal destination for those seeking to learn more about aesthetic surgery."

Douglas McGeorge has been a member of the BAAPS since 1993. He graduated from the Victoria University of Manchester in 1980, and after extensive training in units within the UK and abroad was appointed to the post of Consultant Plastic Surgeon in 1992.

Having started the Plastic Surgery Department at the Countess of Chester Hospital in 1993, he left to continue development of his own practice ten years later. He remains a committed tutor in plastic and aesthetic surgery within the Northwest Region.

According to Douglas McGeorge;

"I look forward to continue working with the proactive and experienced team at the BAAPS, which provides unbiased, educational resources to the public and furthers the ethical practice of aesthetic surgery in the UK."

At present, Mr. McGeorge works privately as consultant plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgeon at the Grosvenor Nuffield Hospital in Chester, as well as BUPA North Cheshire and Murrayfield (Wirral) hospitals. He is also currently involved in establishing a training programme in Aesthetic Surgery which offers hands-on practice to juniors. He has been an invited speaker on breast reconstruction and aesthetic surgery both nationally and internationally.

Douglas McGeorge`s main areas of interest are Breast Surgery and Facial Rejuvenation.
