About me:
Douglas McGeorge was responsible for establishing the new plastic surgery unit in Chester, in1993; leaving ten years later to continue his own practice in the private sector.
Whilst experienced in all aspects of aesthetic and reconstructive surgery, he specialises in cosmetic breast surgery and combines this with a large practice in facial rejuvenation surgery.
In the private sector, Douglas continues to teach aesthetic surgery. Senior trainees in the Manchester and Mersey regions spend time in his practice as a mandatory part of their training, before taking up consultant appointments.
He has been a contributor to the medical literature, an invited speaker at national and international meetings and is closely involved in the training and standards of cosmetic plastic surgery as a Council Member of the British Association of Aesthetic Surgeons. He was President of the Association between 2006-8.
Outside of his surgical practice, he is the co-founder and Medical Director of Science of Skin Ltd; a company devoted to producing topical treatments for common skin problems, based on scientific research. The first product, Solution for Scars, is the only scar treatment backed up by level 1 science. It has been shown, in double blinded trials, to significantly reduce scar thickness and reduce redness.
With a passion for good food and wine, he is a shareholder in Oddfellows Hotels. Starting in Chester, a second hotel in Cheadle, Oddfellows on the Park, brings something new to the Manchester scene; a hotel with great charm, individuality, a wonderful dining experience and first class service.
A contributor to the Princes Trust over many years, he is a member of the Northwest Development Committee, involved in fund raising events for the Trust. He supports the Centre for Social Justice and was privileged to have been a Trustee of the Scar Free Foundation for some 14 years. In June 2018 he was awarded the MBE for his charitable services.
