About me:
Mr Kshem Yapa is a Consultant Plastic Surgeon on the GMC Specialist Register for Plastic Surgery with a specialist practice focused on deep plane facelift surgery, facial rejuvenation and rhinoplasty. He is recognised for his expertise in deep plane facelift and neck lift surgery, endoscopic brow and midface rejuvenation, facial fat grafting, laser resurfacing, eyelid surgery and rhinoplasty.
His approach to facial rejuvenation is founded on the principle that successful outcomes require more than simply lifting the skin. By combining deep plane facelift techniques with facial fat grafting, laser resurfacing and endoscopic rejuvenation procedures where appropriate, he seeks to address the structural changes, volume loss and skin quality changes that occur with ageing whilst maintaining natural, elegant and long-lasting results.
Mr Yapa completed his Plastic Surgery training in the United Kingdom and undertook advanced aesthetic surgery fellowship training in Manchester before being appointed as a Consultant Plastic Surgeon. He has subsequently pursued further training in facial rejuvenation surgery and rhinoplasty with leading surgeons in both the United States and Europe. He remains committed to continual professional development and regularly attends international meetings and advanced cadaveric dissection courses to remain at the forefront of modern facial plastic surgery.
In addition to his private practice, Mr Yapa is a Consultant Plastic Surgeon at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, based principally at St Mary's Hospital, one of the United Kingdom's leading major trauma centres. His reconstructive practice provides a detailed understanding of facial anatomy, tissue handling and wound healing that informs every aspect of his aesthetic work. He featured in the Channel 4 documentary Emergency, which followed the work of London's major trauma network and the role of plastic surgeons in caring for severely injured patients.
Mr Yapa graduated from the University of Cambridge before undertaking a PhD through Stanford University in California and King's College London. His research focused on stem cells in fat, facial development and wound healing, resulting in more than 30 peer-reviewed publications and multiple international awards, including the Best Investigator Award at meetings of both the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Society of Maxillofacial Surgeons.
He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS Plast) and a full member of the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS), the British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (BAPRAS), the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS), and an International Member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS).
His private practice is focused almost exclusively on facial rejuvenation surgery, including deep plane facelift and neck lift surgery, endoscopic brow and midface rejuvenation, facial fat grafting, laser resurfacing, eyelid surgery and rhinoplasty.
In his NHS role he works as a consultant at the prestigious Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and works principally at St Mary's Hospital which is a major trauma centre. Here he is involved in soft tissue reconstruction from head to toe of patients with the most severe injuries He featured in a Channel 4 Documentary “Emergency”, which looked at the trauma networks across London NHS trauma centres and the role of plastic surgeons in the care of these patients.
Mr Yapa graduated from Cambridge University in 2005 and completed a PhD at Stanford University in California and King’s College London.
